CV:
Graduated in philosophy and sociology, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts, in 1975. Secondary school teacher experience for three years. In 1978 a lecturer in contemporary philosophy at Teachers' Training College in Ljubljana. In 1988 a Ph.D. in Philosophy, University of Ljubljana and Associate Professor and the head of the Departement of Education Studies at the newly formed Faculty of Education of the University of Ljubljana. >From 1992 to June 1999 Deputy Minister/ State Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia. From July 1999 to June 2000 Minister of Education and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia. Since October 2000 Professor at the Faculty of Education of the University of Ljubljana and Director of CEPS - Centre for Educational Policy Studies. In the nineties he took an active part in the educational reform. In the period February 1994 - September 1999 he has been a member of the Council for Higher Education of the Republic of Slovenia. At the UNESCO and Council of Europe's diplomatic conference for the adoption of the Convention on the recognition of qualifications concerning higher education in the European region (Lisbon, 1996) he was appointed as one of its two Vice Presidents. In the process of negotiations for Slovenian accession to the EU, he has been the head of the working group "Education, Training and Youth" (1998-1999). His professional and research interests focus on social philosophy and philosophy of education. He is the author and (co)editor of over 100 papers and monographs
