CfA: Avrupa'ja? Turkey and the European Union - Chances for a
common future, Werftpfuhl (Germany), 4-12.12.2004



Dear Euromed Youth partners,

dialogue lab and emyb (two Germany-based organisations) are
organising a conference in cooperation with their partner
organisations, including AEGEE-Amsterdam (the Netherlands),
Cultural Group of Women Karpenissi (Greece), Mikuszewo (Poland),
Youth Promoting Peace (Cyprus) and the Turkish Youth Union
Association (Turkey). The conference’s title is:

“Avrupa’ja? Turkey and the European Union – Chances for a common
future.”

It will take place in Werftpfuhl near Berlin from 4th to 12th
December 2004..

The thematic focus will be on:

1. Intercultural learning
experiencing the various cultures and developing cultural
awareness. Sub themes are identity, prejudices, national
narratives, religion & identity and intercultural communication.

2. Political questions
discussing the obstacles and chances for a common political
future inside or outside the EU. Sub themes are economic problems
and chances, the various aspects regarding migration, ethnic
minorities and Cyprus as well as the relationship between state
and religion.

3. Activating youth
developing ways to get active in the own community and possible
joint projects involving European and Turkish youth. Where
required, the partner organisations and the coordinating
organisation will help participants with the further planning of
their project also after the conference.

Participants can choose between working on the implementation of
own projects, or creating a European-Turkish youth magazine

Knowledge of the themes is no prerequisite; the conference’s
language will be English.

All young people between 18 and 25 who are interested in
participating may apply.

The participation fee (including lodging, meals etc.) is 30 Euro.
70% of the travel expenses will be reimbursed.
