Conference: 3rd Young Faces Conference Courses: Language and Diplomacy Online course Employment Opportunities: Environmental Planner 3rd Young Faces Conference 27- 30 October 2004, Geneva, Switzerland The Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) would like to invite you to compete for a place at the 3rd Young Faces Conference to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from Thursday 27th to Saturday 30th October 2004. The Young Faces Conference seeks to bring together young scholars, NGO activists, journalists and government officials from South East Europe and give them an opportunity to engage with prominent international experts in a broad debate concerning contemporary issues of global and regional security.The venue for the Conference will be the villa Rivebelle on the shores of Lake Geneva. DCAF will pay for all meals, accommodation and a round-trip economy class flight ticket to Geneva for all selected candidates. Conditions for participation To be considered for the conference, applicants must: 1. Be 35 years old or younger at the time of the conference; 2. Be young scholars, NGO activists, journalists or government officials from South East Europe; 3. Hold a graduate degree or possess equivalent experience in a relevant discipline; 4. Speak and write fluently in English; 5. Submit all of the following by 27 September 2004 through e-mail to d.stancic@dcaf.ch - a detailed curriculum vitae (CV); - a draft paper in English on one of the topics below (12 page maximum, A4 size paper, double spaced, with 2cm margins). Participants are encouraged to focus on any chosen aspect of the listed topics; - a one-page abstract (up to 500 words, in English) outlining the main ideas and principal argument in the draft paper. 6. The submission must be formatted using Microsoft Word. Citations should be formatted according to the guidelines set out in the 'Chicago Manual of Style'.
