Question 1. In your answers to the conference issues you explained that in order to finish secondary school, students have to pass five examinations. Are there any differences in entry chances for candidates applying for university when they take Riigieksam in all five final examinations or when they take 3 Riigieksam and 2 Koolieksam (or 4+1)?
Answer: To finish secondary school, students have to pass five examinations. Three of them must be national external exams (Riigieksam) and two of them can be internal school-set exams (Koolieksam). There are no differences in entry chances for candidates applying for universities whether they take 3+2 or 4+1 because usually they need three exams to enter a university. Question 2. Would you explain the main reason for having all examinations (except one part of foreign language) written? This was only the third year for the national examinations in Estonia. At the moment the main task is to reach a good level with the written exams.
